St Jean du Gard Tuesday Market, Southern France

Less touristy than some of the more well-known markets in the region, the lively and popular St Jean du Gard Tuesday market fills the streets of this cevennol town in northern Gard. With one of the largest selections of dry goods we’ve seen in the area ranging from practical everyday items to tourist souvenirs, you will also find long racks of clothing items in the central square. Fish, meat, vegetable and fruit purveyors along with other specialty food vendors – including one of my favorite boulangers – are located in the small indoor market just off the main drag, avenue René Boudon. Several others can be found on the same road just north of the bridge.

  1. I really like how these open air markets/farmers markets offer diverse products rather than just greens and fruits (like where I am). So colorful. I also appreciate how they blend in with the towns. Always enjoying your pictures. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
