The town of Hvar on the island of the same name is a pretty medial town that has become party central for the yachting set. In early June there was enough action that the place had a vibrant night life but was not so overwhelmed with the throngs of tourists that it gets later in the summer.
The temperatures were perfect for dining outside and while cool in the shade during the day the sun is intense, especially bouncing off all the white stone. Short on sights this is a hangout destination. Take a swim and wander the streets and harbor.
Around 6:30PM I head out with my camera. The light is getting lower but still pretty high in the sky. I stumble upon the high road that wraps around town about halfway down the hill from the Fortress. The evening light is perfect for this walk. Although houses block many of the views there are still ample glimpses of the old town and harbor that continually change as you walk west. Near a Venetian bell tower there is a road that winds back down into the main square.
