This page outlines the posts related to a trip we took to Iceland in August of 2012. I hope it will help those planning their own adventure.
This 5 day road trip in southern Iceland is really an expanded version of the Golden Circle route including Pingvellir National Park, Gullfoss waterfall, Geysir and Porsmork Reserves. The following are links to posts related to each destination. If you have any questions, leave a comment and I’ll be happy to answer.

In the Land of Fire and Ice Day 2
From Laugarvatn we explored Gullfoss waterfall, the back roads on the way to Lake Hagavatn, and Geysir. Incredible scenery from pounding waterfalls and gushing geysers to desolate valleys.
More Pics from the Land of Fire and Ice Day 3
Drive through the picturesque Thorsardalur Valley and past the desolate landscape at the base of Helka Volcano on the way to the Country Hotel Anna in the foothills of the Eyjafjallajokull glacier. The day ends with a hike in the green hills above the hotel.
Day Hike in Porsmork
A day hike in the Porsmork reserve with fabulous views of the valley and glaciers. Includes a visit to the rainbow strewn Seljalandsfoss waterfall.
And Sadly our Last Day in the Land of Fire and Ice
Before heading back to Keflavik for our flight out the next morning we visit Dyrholaey for views of the beach front stone arch and Reysfijara for its basalt columns. Day includes another rainbow strewn waterfall at Skogar and incredible views from the hill above Vik.
